ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE HISTORY

Towards an Environmental Justice History of the Dwight Neighborhood

We have been working on telling the story of the history of Dwight through the lens of Environmental Justice. Environmental Justice means the just treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, regardless of income, race, color, national origin, Tribal affiliation, or disability, in decision-making and other  activities that affect human health and the environment.

The changing footprint of the Dwight neighborhood since the 19th century shows a transformation from a mostly small-scale residential urban grain, to larger pieces of land dedicated to commercial and institutional activities.

DESIGN STRATEGIES

Finding design strategies to live with and mitigate against air pollution

Strategies can be put in place at various scales to improve air quality. We put together a brief guide that outlines some iniatives that could be implemented in Dwight as well as best practices from around the world. A tool-kit for breathing healthier air!
